Citizen Reporter Agreement and Code of Ethics
The Community Access Citizen Reporter agrees to
- recognize the editorial authority of
Community Access GROUP in-house editing crew.
- share all information about each articles
with the Community Access GROUP editing crew.
- not produce name cards stating that
I am a citizen reporter of teh Community Access GROUP.
- accurately reveal the sources of all
quotations of text.
- plainly identify himself/herself as
a citizen reporter while covering stories.
- not spread false information
- not use abusive, vulgar, or otherwise
offensive language constituting a personal attack.
- not damage the reputation of others
by composing articles that infringe on personal privacy.
- not use this opportunity to position
for unjust gain, or otherwise seek personal profit.
Citizen reporters are expected to use
legitimate methods to gather information, and clearly
inform sources of the intention to cover a story. When
applicable (coverage that is wrong or otherwise inappropriate)
apologies will be full and prompt.
Legal responsibility that lie with the
citizen reporter:
acts of plagiarism, unauthorized use of material and
defamation
Note:
Any Citizen reporters who work in the field of public
relations or marketing will disclose this fact to their
readers.
